he Ethiopian Health and Nutrition Research Institute (EHNRI) signed a five -year health laboratory equipments maintenance agreement with Holland based Becton Dickinson International (BD) on July 7, 2010.
In the partnership agreement signed at Sheraton Addis, Addis Ababa, Becton Dickinson International has agreed to provide a free of charge maintenance service for its equipments namely FACS Caliburs, FACS Scan and FACS Count that was purchased by EHNRI.
According to the agreement, the company will also provide trainings for central and regional level technicians on how to maintain and fix the above mentioned health laboratory equipments. The training program will include immediate Level 1 and 2 refresher trainings and subsequent comprehensive trainings for Level 3, 4 and 5 for all EHNRI engineers.
EHNRI Director General, Tsehaynesh Mesele (PhD) said, the partnership agreement will enable the health facilities to provide uninterrupted laboratory service to its customers and also reduce the cost that the Institute is spending to purchase spare parts.
As part of strengthening the central and regional laboratory capacity, EHNRI has established resourceful maintenance system and team.
